Isn't it legal for the rear windows to be as dark as you want? It's just the front windows have the 35% limit?

IIRC that's the rule in NV, at least when I did my car back in '01. I went with 35% all around because I don't like the darker rears on a sedan.

100_Percent_Juice 2009-03-19 10:16 AM

I see HUNDREDS of cars driving around with less than 35% on the front windows. The state is going to make a ton of money off of this.

MattR 2009-03-19 11:43 AM

Another lame waste of time, the "safety" issues they refer to are all made up. What a fucking joke. I wonder which of my 3 cars will get popped first.

szucchet 2009-03-19 11:59 AM

i had 5% all around but then i got pop 3 times within 4 months. first time was in california where you are not allowed to have any kind of tint in the front windows, but i live in nevada so i said screw it and did nothing about it. 4 moths later i get pulled over for it in incline village and the cop pulled a little device that told him i had 5% and gave me a ticket because in nevada you can only have 35% in the front windows. i asked him what about the backs and he said it did not matter. latter on that week a got pulled over for it again in incline but i showed the cop the ticket that i already had and let me go. so now i have 35 in front and 5 in back i miss my old tint:(.

ScottyS 2009-03-19 12:09 PM

I did the 35/25 thing so the difference would not be noticeable.

Dean 2009-03-19 12:19 PM

I'm sorry, WTF do you need 5% anywhere in the car the driver might have to look through. I have threatened to tear the legal(?) tint that came in my STI out a few times. It sucks, especially at dusk before headlights do any good.

Even 35% can seriously compromise low light and night visibility.

Put on sunglasses and buy a sun shade you gangstas.

And yes, you can read this whole post with "grandpa voice" in your head.

Now get the F off my lawn!

That's what I did too. it's noticeable, but doesn't look bad IMO.

I am going to get a doctors release for my tint. Patient's eyes are hyper sensitive to light so 20% window tint has been recommended

sperry 2009-03-19 12:46 PM

Tint is not about reducing light to your eyes, that's what sunglasses are for. It's about reducing heat in the car when it's parked in the sun.

Personally, I can't stand driving a car w/ dark tint, and I can't stand ending up at a stop sign across from someone that's got tint so dark that I can't see the driver. But I can understand why someone would want 5% all around on the car if they have to park outdoors all summer long. The thing is, most people just like 5% tint because they want to murder-out their ridez yo. :unamused:

ScottyS 2009-03-19 01:20 PM

How can you give someone the ricer nod if they can't see you? I mean, for all they know, Gothopotamus is on the other side of that glass.

SoCal LS-L 2009-03-19 01:35 PM

How are you supposed to masturbate in a parking lot with 35% tint? :~:

TrueNative 2009-03-19 01:35 PM

My car came pre-tinted by the previous owner, who by all the paperwork, lived in Vegas. Living there requires a dark tint.
Personally, I like tints for the "You cant see my ugly mug, I cant see your ugly mug" factor..... Ugly NEEDS tint.
Either way, its good to see that the police are cracking down on the true crimes out there!!!

Wear a mask?

MattR 2009-03-19 01:51 PM

I won't be able to do lines off my dashboard anymore. Damn it. I have 20ish all the way around. How much will the ticket in Nevada be?

:lol::lol: wow!

Yeah it's shitty, but I know they aren't just looking for cars with windows that are too dark. Our state needs money more than 45 other states so they are looking for anything that can get them skrilla. That article was actually in RGJ as well if my memory serves me right.

van 2009-03-19 03:26 PM

I always felt more comfortable picking my nose with a dark tint, Might be the reason I'm considering it now

Yeah cuz if you decide its good enough to eat, you wont gross out the soccer mom next to you at the light..... Otherwise with 35% you have to wipe it on the floormat.... no matter how mouthwateringly scrumtrillescent you know it would taste! :P:lol:

You didn't want to stick your hand under the seat of my dodge

100_Percent_Juice 2009-03-19 08:49 PM

I agree that anyone with 5% should be ticketed. Anyone who says they can see at night with 5% is full of ****. IIRC I have 20% on the wrx and the tint doesn't look that dark at all. I can see getting a ticket for tint after being pulled over for something else but, I can't really see anyone pulling me over for tint alone. The impreza is kind of a tall car IMO and a lot of light comes in the windshield so it doesn't look all that dark from the outside compared to other cars.

Jcjentz 2009-03-20 07:19 AM

funny when the news channel interviewed the asian guy off wrondel that has a tint shop about wether he does 5% all around he said " oh no, nope we usually send them down the road" he's the guy that recommended 5% to match my rears? good thing I said naw.. he will make bank on them enforcing this law!!

cody 2009-03-20 07:26 AM

Sneaky Asians.

Jcjentz 2009-03-20 08:46 AM

i think the state should give out a free voucher for removal and re-tint..

ridiculous!! should only be a fix it ticket if anything

cody 2009-03-20 08:49 AM

Really? you realize that every dollar that the state has to spend is $2 from the taxpayer's pocket right (ineficiency of gov't)? You want us to foot the bill because you opted to illegally mod your street car and got caught for it?
