WTB: Downpipe

I need a downpipe. Just let me know what you have and how much, in a PM or in this thread if you want. My stock dp and my exhaust aren't matching up and I'm getting a leak or something. And I just need one anyway down the road so I might as well start looking.

your gonna need EM to run a downpipe or the 06

GusGus91 2009-04-28 11:20 PM

Okay. wait. what the eff is an EM? hahah

Engine management. Your going to need to tune...running an untuned car with an aftermarket downpipe is bad. Look at getting the Cobb accessport or set up a date to get a downpipe and tune done

DaveWRX 2009-04-28 11:37 PM

Also if your cat-back isn't lining up? Are you using the stock exhaust hangers? If so u may want to go aftermarket to make it hang a tad lower and that should make a nice match up

GusGus91 2009-04-28 11:45 PM

God damn car costing me money... Well I was gonna get an accessport later on because they're pretty expensive. and they're more money then I have right now. So I guess ill just stick with what I have right now until I can just go all out and get everything that I need.

DaveWRX 2009-04-28 11:47 PM

There you go. That's why my car just has the cat-back. Atleast you only have to buy a downpipe. Once I go stage 2 I have to buy a downpipe and uppipe on top of the Cobb AP. But look on ebay and you might be able to find one for 250-300

GusGus91 2009-04-28 11:53 PM

Yea, I guess ill just stick with the catback for a while. thanks for the help dave

Anytime, and goodluck on your search.

you could also buy a tactrix cable and use opensource for tuning. that would be a cheaper option.

also, I ran an ebay TBE on my wrx when i had it. It fit pretty damn well and wasn't too expensive. downpipes are like 150 shipped, then again some people on here completely oppose those pipes because they are "junk" supposedly. I never had any problems.

Not all the eBay stuff is junk. The real problem is that a lot of it is, and the consistency is really bad... sometimes you get a decent part, other times it really is junk... it all depends on which factory in China happens to be putting out the part the week you're buying.

When you buy from a more reputable seller, not only do you get more consistently high quality parts, you also get the expectation of said quality, so if it sucks you can send it back and get a proper part.
