Another one bites the dust...

Well, the curse continues. I bought my first Subie, a '06 LGT spec B in 2007 and one year later it was totaled. So, i got myself into an '08 LGT Limited one year ago on Sept 21 and this one was smashed last night. Not sure if it totaled yet, but the prognosis is not looking good.
I received the wake up call at 230am with my car alarm blaring. By the time i rushed outside, the occupants of the Saturn had fled and there was an officer on the scene. A report was filed, but the two jerkoffs had made a clean get away for the time being. I had the car towed to Steven's Collision (thanks to the repair threads here) and i am awaiting the damage report. |
Not even close to totalled. Actually thats not bad at all. Little straightening of the rear quarter panel and replace the bumper, deck lid and taillight and should be good to go. Im sure theres a bit more in there but it really doesnt look that bad.

Sucks. :(

You would be surprised... That damage looks extremely similar to damage that I had on my '03 wrx sedan. The total to fix it was $10,700 - bent the frame rail and it had to be replaced along with a whole lot of other parts.

Yeah, there is a sizable ripple that goes up the roof over the rear triangle window. Any which way, I'm not too pumped about driving a rented compact until this mess is all figured out.

I think it very well could be totaled. :( I've heard that if the C-pillar is bent, the car is toast, it simply can't be fixed properly.
What I'm trying to understand is how someone makes a "clean getaway" while leaving the car behind. Was the Saturn stolen? If not, it should be a cinch to track down the owner and ID the driver. |
Yeah. Its just without witnesses, who is to say that the car was not stolen? Have some friends cook up an alibi, but that is worse case scenario. The officer said that in the instances like this he has seen, it is a simple track down to the registered owner. if the car is in fact registered. He searched the car and found not registration or insurance cards. But he did find a "Be safe-Dont drive drunk" (orsomething along those lines) gold pin. At least he got a chuckle out of that.
