I agree! When are you coming to Reno to swap some Type RA motors into our cars?

MattR 2003-11-25 10:27 AM

Sunday! hahaha, I have Steve's # guys, so we'll get something together Sunday and give him a call, or even saturday night.

ArthurS 2003-11-25 11:06 AM

So what does everyone wanna do on Sunday? Any ideas?

sirpdxwrx 2003-11-25 05:18 PM

we'll leave the swapping up to Sponaugle, he just put a 2.5l block with the RA heads, his AVO 500 is being rebuilt, so for the time being he's got a FP 20g 6h, and last I heard with very little effort was 377whp (motor wasn't broken in yet)...he and Clark Turner say there's plenty left in it.

Adam Koppel hit just shy of 300WHP last dyno day, he also has a RA (2.0)

I'll let Jeff know what you think of the site.

Maybe, I'd be rolling in the Outback though.

Well, I'll be coming back from the Bay on Saturday. If I buy the car, I'll prolly just leave it at my sister's in Sac till I can find a ride on a nice "warm" sunny day to drive the Porsche back over the pass.

MikeSTI 2003-11-26 11:00 AM

i go to sac usally on Tuesdays. I leave early thou 6:00am if you ever need to catch a ride im there :D

Thanks for the offer, I'll keep it in mind, but I'll prolly try to go on a weekend, or I'll have to take time off work.

I have access to a truck and car trailer too, if that was something you'd like to try.

Really? That might be an option, but I'm hoping the car will be driveable. I'm just worried about weather. It's an almost 30yr old car w/ a removeable top... it could be friggen COLD driving over the pass!

MikeSTI 2003-11-26 11:45 AM

nahhh put the top down and crank the heatAr lol

Um, who knows if the heater ever works... it's air cooled, which means the heater core is heated by exhaust not water, and could long since been easily removed.

I recently saw a webpage where a guy installed a Subaru XT4 engine in a 914. Another installed a XT6 engine. Have you seen that one???

I've seen some pics of swaps before. Lots of people like going to a flat 6 in the 914, the most popular motor being an air cooled 911 motor, turning their 914 into a 914/6.

Personally I'm really interested in an EJ motor swap. I'd love to see an EJ22 with a turbo in a 914. I figure ~300 rwhp in a 2200 lb car! But it will be a TON of work... so, I wouldn't be trying it right away.

MattR 2003-11-26 10:21 PM

So, nevr mind that this thread has veered sharply off topic, does anyone have any ideas for Sunday...How about____________________.

Fill in the blank, I'll have an idea by saturday..

Other than that, i'm out of here at 7am tommorrow, going to Vegas baby, vegas...

See ya all sunday.

MattR 2003-11-30 11:05 AM

Hmmm? Its getting late, I'm guessing we're not doing anything today...No big deal...
