WTB: Floor Jack

My nice aluminum floor jack from Summit Racing was apparently stolen from my garage at some point in the past 5 days. That and my mtn bike appear to be the only things missing. Anyone know of a good deal on a replacement?

cody 2009-10-29 02:33 PM

Just realized that my sub with custom enclosure is gone too. It was sitting on my work bench in my garage. I'm so pissed.

sperry 2009-10-29 02:38 PM

Just wait until you realize you're missing every CD you've ever purchased since high-school. :unamused:

As much as I dislike Harbor Freight in general, the aluminum racing jack I bought there like 6 years ago is still going strong. Get the larger size one if they're still selling the two models.

ScottyS 2009-10-29 02:43 PM

Whoa, are you serious? That sucks the big one. Yes, the HF aluminum jacks get the thumbs-up.

Dean 2009-10-29 02:57 PM

HF.

Damn, you must be psychic. I forgot that I took all 3 large cd cases out of my car for autox this weekend. Yup, they're gone too. :unamused:

Oh man... I wasn't trying to be psychic. I was miffed when my truck was broken into a while back, but it didn't really bother me until I couldn't find my CDs and realized they had been in the truck when it was robbed.

The only saving grace is that if you're like me, all your music was in iTunes or something already.

cody 2009-10-29 03:54 PM

I have some of them as MP3's.

Just spoke to my GF. She said she accidentally left the garage door open all night but she can't remember which night. I'll try to get more details out of her tonight. I'm not mad, shit happens.

So should I bother trying to get my homeowners insurance to reimberse me for any of this stuff? I don't think I have any receipts. I could probably find one for the jack and maybe the sub and enslosure.

Kevin M 2009-10-29 03:56 PM

I wouldn't. You don't want a claim on your HI unless you really, really have to. Think of it more as disaster insurance than the equivalent of car insurance.

sperry 2009-10-29 04:45 PM

I lost a few hundred CDs, my Garmin navi, and my 60GB iPod photo. I didn't bother to claim any of it w/ my insurance.

cody 2009-10-29 04:51 PM

I take it your auto/home insurance would go up if you were to make a claim like this on it?

Any downside to filing a police report?

sperry 2009-10-29 04:53 PM

Police report isn't a bad idea... but chances are you got robbed by some opportunistic neighborhood kids that saw the garage door open. The police aren't likely to catch them 'cause they're not likely to be repeat thieves. Unless of course you leave that door open and a bunch of stuff out again.

So Amanda remembered that it was Monday night that she left the garage door open. She feels really bad but we've both left it open accidentally. At least we didn't lose much. They also stole Amanda's CD's, none of which were backed up. :(

I actually remember that Lucy started barking at like 10 or 11pm but I just told her to shutup. :unamused:

What's really crazy is that my new snowboard and bindings (and my snowboard boots) were inside my unlocked car in the garage. Apparently it's a $4-500 snowboard. I just bought it (for $150) from the Mogul Mouse ski swap but the bindings that I had also bought were a touch small so I put it all in the car to replace the bindings the next day.

There were some other valuable things that were left alone too. Looks like they just grabbed a couple easy obvious things and jammed.

I have a spare aluminum HF one that needs a cheep rebuild(spring and clamp) you can have in exchange for a good beer.

cody 2009-11-08 08:43 PM

That's a sweet offer, but I bought one shortly after starting this thread. I was tired of driving around on the RE01R's.

Man I feel for you, I've unfortunately been a victim a few times (as noted on here) but when My truck got broken in to and all my CD's were gone was the worst... Bikes out of the garage is pretty bad too, especially if you have some nice rides.
If you need help getting receipts for the outdoor gear and bikes lost let me know, I can arrange for some legit invoices.

cody 2009-11-13 11:47 AM

Thanks Man. Honestly nothing was super valuable or something that can't be replaced. I liked my Mtn bike but it was $150 new from a swap meet 6 years ago. My music was mostly old burnt CD's. Kail hooked me up with an Eclipse sub that sounds better than my old one for $50. The replacement jack looks almost identicle to the one that was stolen and was $80 at HF. My GF is pretty bummed about losing her CD's though. She paid money for most of her's.

Honestly, as "wake up calls" go...this wasn't as bad as it could have been...

The window on my wifes car was smashed out and stuff was stolen about a week ago. The feeling sucks. The person then used her bank card at 2 gas stations both for at least $60 within a half hour of stealing her purse. I have seen enough TV to assume that the police should be able to get surveillance tapes of the gas stations. I honestly doubt reno pd cares or has the money to do such an investigation.

cody 2009-11-13 01:34 PM

We need a superhero who castrates these little fuckers.

100_Percent_Juice 2009-11-13 01:39 PM

Can you sew? I will need a costume.

cody 2009-11-13 01:43 PM

No, but I'm genious with a stapler.
