WTBorrow any driver seat that will bolt into an impreza

For about a week. I am going to take mine out and do some cutting/welding and I just need something to be in its place until I am done.

Dean 2009-12-28 04:19 PM

My STI one is not doing anything.

100_Percent_Juice 2009-12-28 05:46 PM

I don't know when I will do this project but if you don't mind, that would be greatly appreciated.

Dean 2009-12-28 08:42 PM

Sooner is better. At least one engine may get fixed in January and back in the car at which point you can't have a seat.

khail19 2009-12-29 12:58 AM

Joel, I have my bugeye seats just laying around too. You're welcome to borrow one if you need it for as long as necessary.

100_Percent_Juice 2009-12-29 01:50 AM

^That will probably work better since you are closer now. Thanks guys.

Heck yeah! You will probably beat me to it......

cody 2009-12-29 11:51 AM

What are you doing to your seat, Joel?

100_Percent_Juice 2009-12-29 12:07 PM

I am going to make the side bolsters wider so they don't jab me in the legs anymore.

I don't know Joel well enough to make a fat-ass joke. But if I did, I'd totally say something like "how about cutting back on the cheeseburgers instead", or maybe even put some effort into it and come up with something funny.

khail19 2009-12-29 05:04 PM

I was going to make a joke about him not fitting in my bugeye seats, but it was late and I didn't have the creativity flowing.

sybir 2009-12-29 06:43 PM

I'm a 300 pound guy with Recaro SRD's in his DD. I won't even make fat jokes, I'll just say "daaaaaaaaaaamn"

:lol::lol:

I didn't say it was jabbing my lovehandles or gut, I said it was jabbing my legs.:unamused: There is really nothing I can do about that. And Khail, I do have bugeye seats in there currently. It's gradually become more annoying so I am just going to modify it and see what happens. I really don't see the point in having the seat raised on the door side anyways(for bigger guys). You're not going to slide anywhere because there is a door there and it would be much easier to enter/exit if that side was flat imo.

How about just trading your bugeye seats for 04+ WRX seats instead of demolishing the awesome side bolsters on the buyeye seat?

cody 2009-12-30 10:00 AM

I love my bugeye seats. I'm enormous and they seem like they were made for me. I think Joel's height may have more to do with this than his weight...or else he's just a wuss. :P

DaveWRX 2010-01-05 12:59 PM

im prob taller than anyone here and honestly i love the bugeye seats...just trade for 04-07 seats as the bolsters are not nearly as huge as they are in the bugeyes

I'm 6'4" and I'd take the bugeye seats over just about any other Impreza seat. Maybe not the V3/V4 STi seats... or the JDM STi Recaros. But all the USDM seats for sure.

I don't think you guys are really grasping what the problem is. Its less about being tall and more about being wide. *To illustrate, Dave is very tall and slender with low wind resistance(great for speed skating). I am tall but have wide shoulders and hips(good for defensive line).

*illustration not meant to offend.

Also, I have male reproductive organs between my legs so, while some of you can sit with your legs like this l l I have to sit like this \ /.

This is precisely why I think you'd like a set of the '04+ WRX seats over the bugeye seats. They should fit you better if you're sitting legs-out because they've got flatter bolsters.

Plus, they look better than the bugeye seats, and there are lots of '04+ owners that would like to trade. So trading is really a win-win, IMO.

I'm just trying to keep you from mangling some bugeye seats if the '04's would fit you and be less work to swap.

Dean 2010-01-05 02:53 PM

I agree with Scott on the WRX seats being great, but understand your issue.

In addition to the '05 WRX, the '04+ STI seats, are also significantly wider than the bug eye WRX's.

If you haven't done so, sitting in some other seats might be worth it before exerting the effort on hacking yours that are relatively desirable in the resale market due to the large bolsters you will be hacking.

Took it out and modded it tonight. Then I spent an hour greasing all the moving parts so its quiet and smooth. It was pretty easy to do what I wanted and now it feels great. There was also a broken spring in the back that I ended up removing. I don't really know how one could break but, it had. I wish I would have done this days ago.
