Headlights

Just finished painting my headlights... Looks way better, they should have come that way stock.. I'll get some pics as soon as I get my car detailed.. She is pretty nasty right now

How hard was this to do? How long did it take?

With an 06-07, the most difficult and time consuming part is actually getting the headlights out of the car. Once detached from the many stupid and seemingly unnecessary clips and bracketry, the baking of the entire housing takes about 10-15 minutes each, then opening them takes another 5 minutes each. After opening the housing, you will have three pieces: the lamp, lens, and a trim piece. The only part that can be painted is the trim piece. Time now only depends on how many coats of paint you use on it (each about 15 minutes.) When I did mine, I added two CCFL halo rings as well. I was meticulous and made absolutely sure that everything was perfect. It took me about 6 hours total, but without the halos, I would say the total time it takes is about 2 hours if done carefully.

Hope that helps a bit. Let me know if you need help or anything, and I will see what I can do.

It took me about 4 hours I would say... The hardest part is getting the headlights off the car and getting them back in.. Huge pain in the ass

bigrobwoot 2010-02-01 09:29 PM

pics yet?

Dewey 2010-02-01 10:18 PM

Here is a pic of mine. I also left the ring surrounding the projector silver. http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...86958_3959.jpg

Thank you! I wish I had some good pictures of it with the halos on, but unfortionately, the car is now in the hands of another lucky driver. I have some cool plans for the new car though

That'd be cool to see, but oh well. And I thought I was the only local sube rockin' the angel eyes! Those things have been nothing but a headache for me, but oh well. When everything is working, my headlights look awesome! Haha. Just got them fixed and got my foglight bulbs replaced, once the weather clears up, I'll wash it and take some pics.

100_Percent_Juice 2010-02-02 01:16 PM

Did you put hids in the fogs?

bigrobwoot 2010-02-02 10:19 PM

Na, I emailed that Daniel Stern fella, and bought the bulbs he suggested. They're "selective yellow", and they look pretty good.

100_Percent_Juice 2010-02-02 11:02 PM

post pics then.

bigrobwoot 2010-02-03 07:28 AM

I'll see what I can do. I can probably take a pic or 2 after class and post them

That's cool that your new place has a basketball hoop.

Yeah. What's not cool is that it's broken, and I don't care enough to fix it.

I swear... there's probably one hoop for every 3 houses in my neighborhood, and they're all either broken or ignored.

I think maybe 3 times last summer I heard someone bouncing a ball on my street. I wish people would put those things laid down in their backyard if they're not going to play with them so the rest of us don't have to drive around them in the street or look at them on their lawns. Or worst, get their car bashed in if one blows over in the wind... thankfully I haven't actually seen that happen, but they do end up in the middle of the street when we get a wind storm.

If they were getting use, then I'd have no problem with them being out... but if they're not gonna use 'em in the summer, they sure as hell don't need to be in the street in the middle of January.

I agree, but
1- I rent, it was there when I moved in, and
2- it's in the ground next to my driveway on the property, not a flimsy one with sand in the base that I leave on the street.

Plus, the hoop is missing some bolts is all that's wrong with it

100_Percent_Juice 2010-02-03 04:22 PM

Rob's hoop is obviously the aftermath of an insane dunk. Thus it was never repaired so as to not tarnish the memory of that great day.

bigrobwoot 2010-02-03 04:30 PM

That's what I was thinking, so I didn't want to disturb the memory.

But seriously. If we fix it we can use it. What are you doing Saturday Joel?

WRXlerate 2010-02-04 11:44 AM

I can't stand them because when I worked graveyard the noise of the ball bouncing drove me crazy. The ones above the garage are worse because when someone would airball it, the ball would smack the garage door. Now that I am off of graveyard, no one ever uses the one across the street. Figures :)

Headlights turned out nice btw.

If you are lucky, the wind will blow them all on the horses, the BLM will show up and confiscate the hoops as forensic evidence for a 5-year mass homicide investigation, and all of your problems will be solved.
