WTB: 26" wheel. front for bicycle, not dub :)

I have cheap no-name "mountain" bike with a front rim that has a dent in the brake face near the seam. It sucks under braking, and being a cheap bastard, even internet prices look like a ripoff to me. I think the whole bike cost me <$70 new.

I think we have a couple bike shop guys on the board. Any of what aficionados would call junk lying around I could have cheap for this thing?

I think it is about 1" inside bead and currently has 1.95" tires not that it matters.

I also have my original owner vintage early 80s TREK 810(I think) 12spd road bike I am thinking about putting back in service. It was a great bike almost 30 years ago. Reynolds 531 tubing, down tube shifters, water bottle mount and all that cool stuff... The last time I tried to ride it, the wheels squeaked from my heavy ass and/or stretched/stressed spokes. I think I have all the stuff to do it except the knowledge/skill/tools to know if the wheels have to be re-laced and trued or just re-tensioned/trued.

I have an old 26" wheelset you can have for free, but it's in Sac.

Your road wheels probably just need to be retensioned. Most bike shops will do that for a reasonable cost (25-30 a wheel)

Sold, even if a better offer comes along. :) I'll be driving by at some point. Maybe on the way to THill at the end of May if not before.

Sybir misplaced the ones he had. :) So...

BUMP!

Damn, I just gave away all kinds of wheels yesterday... I'll dig around alittle more. Let me know what you need for the other bike too.
I'm having some Mac G4 issues, maybe you could help me?

Dean 2010-05-28 03:51 PM

I posted this back in late April, sorry you missed it.

I can probably help with the G4. I have 3 different flavors of them myself.

I'm waiting on the mac shop to give me a diagnosis of what I need, I'll let you know... I can dig up a wheel for you regardless... is it quick release / bolt on? back / sliver?

Anything, any color will work. It is a POS cheap Walmart special. The front rim just sucks balls right near the weld and basically makes using the front brake a life threatening decision. :)

Not sure who the Mac Shop is, but don't let them rape you. I don't sell anything but my skills and knowledge, so if you need parts, I will find the best price on parts for you to order them or tell you to junk it and replace it if that is more effective and basically give you the honest situation.

The place is called Mac-o-Rama, off Longley... I had one of them checked before and it had a bad logic board, they charged me $50 to look at it... I know nothing about macs so I don't even know where to start.
I guess they both are getting a Kernel panic and pretty much just freeze up when booted, I tried re-installing os-x and it wouldn't work so thats where I gave up.
