I really need to use up some of these EBC Yellows I've accrued, but that's the same day as my Grandma's birthday party.
|
I just requested a early bday gift from the wife, as long as my car holds up I'm good to go.
$175.?? |

Price goes up after tomorrow.
This PDX is a great opportunity. Instructors don't have a race to run themselves, so you have the opportunity to get their full attention. Hope to see some of you out there. |
I'm in

I wish I was in, I need brakes and a ball joint oh yea and money. next event Ill be there for sure:D

I should be there to instruct. And with the WRX hopefully... I spend about 4 hours yesterday tuning it.
I think I've dialed out most of the nonsense... A lot of my issue with the car running lean after shifting under light throttle appears to have actually caused by the closed-loop mode trying to compensate/learn. After turning off closed-loop, the car was running much better, albeit a ton rich, since the fuel map is still essentially setup for an FPGreen at 22psi on a built motor rather than the GT52 at 16psi on a stock bottom end. I still have some fueling to pull out of the map, and the car still has some odd leaning-out issues when shifting, but I think it'll be good enough for the track next weekend if I can get another hour or two. The only thing that sucks is that I'm tuning in 3rd gear between 2000 and 6000 rpm to keep it legal on the street. I really need access to a dyno... then again, my tuning skill is such that I take forever to make changes... so at $200/hr, I'm not exactly willing to drop the money on the 10 hours of dyno time I'd need to get the car tuned. Anyway, I should be at the event! |
Hello, I'm Joshua. I've been in the reno area for some time now. Not too long ago I found myself a subaru and found out about these forums! I have a couple questions concerning this track day as I'd love to get out on rfr. I noticed it requires an m95 snell cert. helmet or better. I have a motorcycle helmet that was my brothers and all it has on it is a sticker that says DOT and Snell approved. Is that all that is needed or should it actually have m95 somewhere on it if it has that cert.? Also, do I need to be a member of reno scca to join in on this fun? Thanks for reading!
|
Cool, Scott. If I was PDX'ing, you're one of the drivers I'd ask to be my instructor.
Joshua: welcome! It's my understanding you need an SCCA membership to participate in the PDX; but if a full year's membership cost is not affordable at the moment, I believe a weekend membership ($15) will suffice. Email Carol Deborde, c_deborde@charter.net, to confirm. |
Can I call dibbs on a ride in Scott's car on course?
|
dknv, thanks for the contact and info. Turns out the weekend pass will work. Now I just need to find out if this helmet of mine will be ok. Any insight on snell ratings? Do helmets usually have a number on them or anything? Thanks again
|
Snell stickers are orange and often hiding under the inside liner somewhere.
If your helmet will not work, we will likely have loaners available. Also, you need to wear long pants and long sleeves while in any car on course. |
How was it?!
|
Hot.
Van's car kicks ass. It took all the punishment he could throw at it and just shrugged it off. Not bad for a garage-built frankensuby! |
It was a blast. Thanks to Scott's instruction and Dean's class I was in a lot of rear view mirrors!
I'm hooked, already setting aside some money for August. |
Way to go Van.
