MattR 2010-08-05 07:07 PM

That turbo is massive. Is that a drag car?

Kevin M 2010-08-06 08:03 AM

You read the part about "Fox Body Mustang" right?

I don't see any water pipes running to the firewall... my guess is that it's an air-to-air IC that's fed via cowl induction.

Nick Koan 2010-08-06 08:36 AM

Yeah, definitely a drag car.

As for the intercooler, not quite sure if its air/air or air/water. The IC was jammed up against the windshield, and could have easily been an air/air cowl induction type thingie. But, it could have also been an air/water with some sort of ice bath or something too. Hard to say from what I saw.

IVM is sending us their customers' alignments, so we are seeing some V8 muscle in here lately.

The yellow Mustang is an LX coupe set up for drag only:
<3000lbs
393 cubic inches
30+psi of Garrett boost
E85 tune
Air/water IC in the passenger footwell with an icebox tank in the trunk. No front heat exchanger.
12" long "downpipe" - no muffler
1500hp easy
2-speed Powerglide automatic
Likely an 8-second 150+mph car.

The front alignment was:
- Lots of caster
- 0 toe
- -1deg camber so the tires would straighten up as the front end lifts.

Nick Koan 2010-08-12 10:33 PM

Closer view of the front of the engine. Just your average everyday belts.

03wrxwagon 2010-08-12 10:44 PM

is that a dry sump setup or what is that

MPREZIV 2010-08-13 01:25 PM
