Uno Mas?

Apparently our garage needed another Subaru in it (as did our neighbors across the street it seems). Congrats to Lisa!

Look at that ground clearance!?

Not quite a nice as the Saab inside, but it's certainly going to be more capable in the winter.

Yes... that's a 2006 Outback Sedan 3.0R with under 18k miles.

Now, I just need to do the '07 stereo swap or the JDM double DIN conversion in order to get satellite radio and an iPod/aux hookup. Also, I should probably get some snow tires for it... it's still has the original RE92's on it!

Awesome. Looks like it's ready for some off-roading. :)

Yeah, the black side skirts/underbumpers really make the car look higher than it is. We also looked at a black one in Sac (thanks for the help Aaron!) that looked way sportier because the skirts matched the car's color, but it had like 66k miles on an '07 and Lisa just decided that the wear and tear on the car was just too much.

Really the car wasn't in terrible shape or anything, just in worse shape than the '03 Saab we just sold, and she just couldn't see herself getting into a car that's more worn out than the one we were getting rid of. Also, the VW dealer that was selling it wouldn't accept our reasonable offer on the car, so we actually ended up paying more locally for an older car.

We're pretty pleased with the one we got. It's like getting a brand new car... still has that new Subaru smell!

Looks like a pretty good deal there. I always liked the looks of those cars.

The only thing I like better on the same generation Legacy is the Legacy grill. I wonder if they're the same shape, or if the difference in the hoods makes a difference in the grills?

Nick Koan 2010-09-25 06:49 PM

If I remember correctly, there would be a small gap underneath the grill.

EDIT: Yeah, looks like a small gap. The OB grill is about a 1/2" taller.

And yeah, I'm not a fan of the 05-07 Outback grill. The rest of the minor enhancements (hood bumps, front bumper and side skirts) are all very nice though.

I don't think I have ever seen that car before, or at least not consciously. Wagons yes, sedan, no.

Very cool car actually.

Does this mean she has to come to meets now? :)

Don't tell her about the switch on the top of the steering column... Make her post the "Why are my parking lights on? question on the forum. :)

Wow, I love it, great car. What changed? How did the Subaru hatred subside enough to allow this to happen? Or did she just drive it and like it a lot?

I'm sure it had nothing to do with Scott's mind control ray.

She's just lucky this car isn't a turbo.

If they had made a 2.5XT Outback Sedan, I would have held out 'till we found one. Same horsepower, likely better highway mileage, none of the altitude sickness. But the cheap 97 octane vs. the 91 we've had to put in the turbo cars will be nice.

Her words:

"It was just nicer than I expected. Plus, 'cause it's an Outback sedan, it's not the same thing as all the WRXs and Legacies and wagons everywhere. Also, it was practical (both for work and cost-wise)."

Also, she keeps insisting she doesn't dislike Subarus... she just didn't want to be roped into the Subaru thing just 'cause I'm into them. But I think with the Outback sedan, she's really kinda picked her own car... I told her over and over not to get the car unless she really liked it. We were totally sold on getting a G35 sedan... but we just couldn't find a nice one at the right price. Then the outback came along and was quirky enough for her... she hates the idea of driving the same cookie-cutter BMW 330xi that everyone else in Reno drives.

zpeed 2010-09-26 05:59 PM

We just pick new legacy too. now I can drive Subaru to the meet.

ScottyS 2010-09-26 09:00 PM

Legacy pile on!!!!

sybir 2010-09-27 02:55 PM

Dude, I'm glad she found a white one, that's a really sharp-looking car.

Sorry the one down here didn't work out. I think they couldn't do much on price because they didn't take it on trade - they bought it to resell as they didn't have any AWD cars, even SUV's, on that lot.

Yeah. But the real sticking point was what they were offering for trade-in on her Saab. The guy there was kind of a dick to Lisa about the condition of the car, and the Saab was in fact in pretty damn good condition.

The best part was after I picked apart every little thing on the Subaru from my notes, he tried to do the same with the Saab to justify his low trade-in value. He told me "the windshield is chipped" (it wasn't) and "the rear brakes are nearly shot".

That part of the conversation was hilarious:

Salesdouche: "The rear brakes are nearly shot."
Me: "The brakes are fine, they were just replaced."
Salesdouche: "Well, you should probably talk to the place that did them, because there's hardly any pad left."
Me: "Oh really? 'Cause when I put those pads in myself earlier today, they were brand new."
Salesdouche:

I mean, I knew I was lowballing the guy on the car a bit, and I explicitly told him as much. But the only way Lisa was going to be happy with that car was if we got a raging deal on it. Like I said, it wasn't a bad car by any stretch... but it wasn't as nice as the car we were trading in on it.

I saw one of these downtown the other day. I was honestly wondering if it was lifted.
