4-day weekends rule

With time off work, Project: Edelbrock is currently underway on the Mustang, tentatively scheduled for completion by the end of this weekend. Sweet! 8)

MattR 2004-01-02 02:50 PM

Screw that! I'm stuck at work again today, I hate my life

Just kidding.

MikeSTI 2004-01-02 05:50 PM

lol that rules!!! engine looks nice thou pics look funAy
and it looks like you forgot to where your gloves :P
have you found anything else you want to replace while she's all apart?

AtomicLabMonkey 2004-01-02 07:13 PM

Well I'm staring at the cylinder heads right now, and if I had an extra $1500 lying around I'd pull those heavy fuckers off too and replace em with some good aluminum ones. They restrict airflow as much as the manifold does... stupid Ford castings...

That'll have to wait a while...

MikeSTI 2004-01-03 11:32 AM

still going wheres some more pics or are you done ahead of schedule?

BOO 2004-01-03 12:20 PM

Gotta love fuel/carbon buildup in the cylinder head ports...

AtomicLabMonkey 2004-01-03 10:30 PM

Jesus Christ... I just got the new lower manifold on and torqued down at like 10:00. It's fucking frigid out in that garage, I could barely feel my fingers. Looks like this damn car isn't going to be completely put back together until Monday or Tuesday night...

Yeah. I'm sure it's frigid.

Today's high in my garage was 30. My soldering iron took 10 minutes to heat up enough to solder my headlight leveling switch connectors.

On my drive home from Matt's house just now, it was 12 degrees. Tell me again how frigid your garage is. :P ;)

AtomicLabMonkey 2004-01-04 09:58 AM

Hey, I can bellyache all I want tough guy, I'm the one who's spent probably 20 hours so far leaning over a goddamn engine, which is barely halfway put back together. Anything below freezing is "frigid" in my book...

MikeSTI 2004-01-04 01:31 PM

i feel yah on that back pain....was putting in new speakers and amps in my car and man is my lower back sore!!!

LetItRev 2004-01-04 02:30 PM

New speakers??? What did you go with Mike? I've done some reading on different boards on options for the front and rear doors. I'm curious what you went with and where you routed the power wires.

Thanks,

Franz

STIwish 2004-01-04 03:37 PM

All a bunch of pussies.. it was -2 when i was out last night/this morning.

MikeSTI 2004-01-04 06:49 PM

i havent put in the door speakers in the front yet but i purchased the Boston Rally Series 6.5" front and 4" rear.....well se how it goes

as far as wire'ing i ran the power down the drivers side speaker wire down the middle and rca cables down the passanger side 8)

IT'S ALIVE! ALIVE!!!!!

Barring any leaks that develop down the road (fingers still crossed... I'm gonna be nervous about that for weeks), Project: Edelbrock is a success! I just finished it up at lunch and drove it back to work, and it gets up and moves. It didn't lose any low-end torque, which I was a little concerned about due to the shorter runner lengths, and now it pulls hard all the way up to the 5800RPM redline, instead of falling off around 5000. I'll post some more pictures after work.

ArthurS 2004-01-08 02:38 PM

Awsome to hear man!

Its always nice to finish something and have no major problems. Crossin my fingers for no future leaks.

Hehe... "5800 redline" Where's the other 1400 rpms!? ;)

Congrats! I'm glad that beast is finally in there! Wasn't that your Xmas gift LAST xmas? Now all you need is that Vortech SC so you're allowed to roll with the rest of us forced induction guys. :P

I don't think so... I'd rather stroke it (hehe) out to 347c.i. and put good cylinder heads on than go forced induction. I like things as simple as possible...
