Anyone else getting T-Storm warnings?

I had one about 30 minutes ago... and now the hills across the street from me are on fire. Awesome.

Another warning just came up for Sparks too.

Fires on Peavine and Virginia Highlands according to Channel 2.

How did you get the warnings?

Nick Koan 2011-07-29 07:21 PM

The hills right behind your house? That's no good.

TV EBS. I'm trying to watch F1 practice on the DVR and it keeps pausing to show me the warnings.

Lightning is peppering the hills about twice a minute right now... a second plume of smoke just started up. CDF is already up in the hills (been up there for hours now).

Cosworth is a little freaked out... it's probably not helping that I keep going outside to watch the storm. At least the rain is coming down hard now... maybe that will wet the hills enough to prevent more strikes from starting fires.

Damn... I can't remember the last time I saw rain like this... it's literally coming down like a fire hose, as the fire is noticeably going out.

No warnings or Rain at my place. Weird.

Scott, did you get the crazy hail storm? Pretty intense.

Kevin M 2011-07-29 10:53 PM

No hail on us, but heading to the theater around 8:45 we got the biggest raindrops I've seen outside of Tennessee. We got EBS warnings shortly before we left. Will have to check for hail damage in the morning but the Fozzy is probably fine.

no rain or hail or anything cool slightly north of down town. some nice wind, AFTER i masked off my car and started painting the roof. :( lol

100_Percent_Juice 2011-08-01 09:10 AM

Nobody paints outside, Alex.

cody 2011-08-01 02:49 PM

Haha, I bet your neighbors love you.

A1337STI 2011-08-01 03:43 PM

I moved my car to an empty part of the parking lot , and next to a big wall.

Actually i talk to some of my neighbors. one guy came over and i thought he was gonna complain, but he ended up just wanting to talk about racing. :)

top is white now, this morning while the hood was already quite warm to the touch the roof was cold.

... . kinda looks like crap, but if it reduces the in car temps at all i don't care. :) (i saw 160F when i started painting)

I've been out in eastern NV fixing lightning-related issues on some high-elevation study sites.....fun times....
