my STG 2 08 WRX overboosting...

So like the title states , Im overboosting. Seeing between 4-6, some times more , PSI than I should.

Started when I was down in Reno over the weekend. I am tuned by and OTS map from XPT. Only engine mods are TBE and Drop In K&N filter.

2nd gear can see up to 19psi.

3/4th gears have seen between 21-24psi....

Ive had a look at the BCS line that Ts off at the Turbo, left to the wastegate and right heads to the hot side. In the line that heads to the T from the BCS there is a little tiny cut , which looks to only be superficial, but could that be the source of my overboosting? All other lines in that area look okay but I am looking into just ordering all new OEM lines/T for that area from subarugenuineparts.com ... Just looking for some guidance since this is my first problem with the car since ive had it, likely its not major in the way of blown motor.

yes thats why you are over boosting, I can take a look at it for you, is it the line the goes to the nipple of the compressor housing or the WG

Its the line that leads to where it Tee's off to compressor housing and WG...

I dont live in reno but i could take a picture and post it or something.

Pretty sure you can get that tubing from any auto parts store for dirt cheap. Maybe just replace it and if that's it, profit.

then yes just replace that line with any kind of vacuum hose and it will fix it, Dont throw the OEM t with the hoses out, just the long one the connects to it.

In the newer cars, do they still put a "pill" in one of those spaghetti lines?

There is pills in my lines to WG and Compressor...

I guess now on the new cars they make that whole section of hose/Ts in one piece , i might order that and still try to replace that BCS line anyways with regular vacuum hose tonight... looks like id have to take of the intake manifold to do it though...

There should be a restrictor pill only in the line from the compressor to the tee. From the factory there is a pink dot on the line where the pill is.

But yes, the newer pills come as part of a tee assembly.

well when i was installing my boost gauge i tried installing it of that T ... there were pills in both the wastegate and compressor side i believe.

If there was a leak in the line that the boost gauge receives its pressure from could that give me false readings? IE to high of boost lol

No, it would read low. But most any leak could cause the overboost.

I thought if I had a boost leak anywhere else , say by the BPV that it would naturally show low boost since it would be on the side where the ECBS isnt pressuring to regulate boost?
