A plate of turbo with a side of bulletproof drivetrain to go

It's great when people get funding for crazy ideas sometimes. The details of my motor/tranny swap can be found here (sort of)at ss-ms.com: http://www.ss-ms.com/forum/showthrea...id=421#post421 .

Basically, it's STi meets Prodrive meets S-Squared all over the place. I am trying to keep fabbing to a minimum, and I would have succeeded if not for my inexplicable desire to use RS heads. If I were to use RA or Spec C heads like rational people would have, this would be an entirely bolt-on affair. But I'm like that. Anyways, full details of all of my mods will emerge soon, as I need to figure out what class I'm in for this season (god don't let it be Modified... shudder... Looks like Street Mod is out because of the ALK and tranny mount. Not sure about the transmission itself, but since my motor is 100% Subaru that's legal. I think the transmission may be as well based on that rule. If you guys are curious about anything I'm doing, just ask, I'm not keeping anything secret.

Kevin, that car is gonna OWN. You make me wanna get an RS and 1 up you with a EJ22T and RA Spec C heads. :P

Lemme know where you found your 6-speed... I think I'll be going that route in about a year if I don't get an STi.

hehe hey Scott the 6-speed is in the STi! Join the dark side my son   we still need a black and a white one!

Welcome to OSP. Check the supplemental regulations on www.renoscca.com for details...

dknv 2004-01-22 09:59 AM

OSP or SU?

Kevin M 2004-01-22 10:35 AM

OSP is now SU. The reason I'm not just jumping in to SU is that I don't know what the class is also going to consist of. Fast or not, my car will weish 3000 pounds or so, and I'm not gonna be able to take 2000 pound stripped-down race cars if they are allowed. If it comes down to it, I may petition for a ruling on the 6MT in SM (it doesn't appear to be specifically outlawed) and remove the ALK, or just talk to the other guys in the class and see what they think about it. Turns out I won't have the GpN tranny mount anymore b/c I have to go back to the standard namby-pamby rubber mount off the STi.

I got the gearbox and such from a Nasioc member who bought a totalled STi. But just a hint- if you buy an Impreza project for autocross, get the oldest one you can and throw parts at that. Save you about $7k off an RS, and it's lighter.

Your car is so rice Kevin.

Dean 2004-01-22 12:54 PM

Sorry, SU.

If you take off the ALK, I think you will be OK in SM, but don't have a rulebook handy..

I should have the CD for 04 by this weekend. If somebody wants to make a road trip to Minden, you might be able to pick one up from Matt.

Unless you have a stash of 2004 SCCA Rule books, that would be Matt Benson. :D
