Except that wasn't the problem. The spring would have needed to be stronger to keep the entire blade in contact, regardless of what I bent.

I tried the RainX version of those and threw them...

I tried the RainX version of those and threw them away after a week. They didn't work well with the weak OEM springs that pull the wiper into contact with the windshield.
