Some companies try and low ball you with "third party" "Market" estimates that are way below wholesale book much less what you would pay retail from a dealership. Unless your policy says otherwise, you get replacement value which is determined by actual retail replacement cost in your market, not some number they pull out of their back side.

I dealt with this and ended up writing a letter to the state insurance board claiming bad faith, and as soon as I did, they would do whatever I wanted. The best thing is to be armed with local data. Cars.com is a good source of retail listings, autotrader isn't as good due to the largely private party nature...
