Fuel costs I believe are about near the same, well if I can restrain my right foot. The only thing that I was worried about are the higher maintenance costs. The STi replacement parts are most likely more expensive but in overall maintenance what in the STi would endure more wear?
It has crossed my mind as something that would be more practical and efficient that modding my WRX the way I would like. I would already have the bulletproof trans, the VF39, better suspension set up, and an overall tougher engine.
I wish I could get pick up Em's STi, but I am fairly certain she would kill me for that...

An unmodded STi should cost lower than a WRX modded to around the same power levels to maintain.
But keep in mind... if you're paying $200/mo in insurance on the WRX for example, expect to pay more like $500/mo for the STi since you're under 25. If you're not paying for the insurance yourself, realize that it's going to be a massive shock to your monthly budget when you have to start paying it!
