From a functional not cosmetic perspective, sometimes the lip gets hit without the bead seat being affected.
You can sort of check it by spinning the wheel with a very steady pointer to the first turn in the lip/wheel.
If you get the tire pulled, they should be able to do the same thing on the actual seating surface.
You will have to do that anyway to get it repaired. There are a bunch of places out there that do it for about $100. Shop around and look for opinions.
