A good HDR image doesn't scream "I'm HDR"... HDR should just look a touch surrealistic, or it should be used just to make an otherwise impossible to photograph image possible. If you're goal is otherwise, just load up a regular image in Photoshop and drag the saturation slider around.

None taken. I know exactly what you are talking about. They can easily be way too much. This was our first attempt at doing some as well, so not too bad.
