Sad news, but it looks like it just got canceled

Hi Nicholas:

In case you hadn't heard, The North Nevada Rally Organizing committee has been facing several unexpected challenges this year- most of which stem from a change of date inflicted on us by one of the permitting agencies.

This move has had dramatic impacts on both our entry list and the number of support volunteers who can attend. The loss of entries is to such a degree that the budget numbers are really not viable. At the same time, the shortage of volunteers means that even if we manage to hit the minimum entry numbers, the safety and security of the course might not be up to the standards that are needed.(although the t-shirt and lunch impact to the budget is reduced)

Given these circumstances, we have decided that event's best interests are probably better met if we shift our efforts to a 2010 event, securing a date and rounding up enough sponsorship and local support that we can avoid this situation next year, and put on a rally that is a step up rather than a step sideways or down from our debut effort in 2008.

Although it is technically a week before our Supplemental regs would have forced our hand, we are making the announcement official today, Great Basin Rally Group's presentation of North Nevada Rally will not take place in 2009.

Again we thank everyone for the support we have had, we will be issuing entry refunds in the next week for those who have paid, and we look forward to seeing everyone next year.
