I'm with Scott. Unless you have a clogged or restrictive filter, there should not be anywhere near enough negative pressure to collapse an undamaged/uncrimped silicone hose.

Take the air cleaner off and see if you can reproduce the problem. If so, it isn't the hose. If you can't, it is the filter.

Wait, 2 clamps where? Sounds like a leak, possibly in addition to a low flow filter, not a collapse if post MAF clamps fix it.
