Yeah, the black side skirts/underbumpers really make the car look higher than it is. We also looked at a black one in Sac (thanks for the help Aaron!) that looked way sportier because the skirts matched the car's color, but it had like 66k miles on an '07 and Lisa just decided that the wear and tear on the car was just too much.
Really the car wasn't in terrible shape or anything, just in worse shape than the '03 Saab we just sold, and she just couldn't see herself getting into a car that's more worn out than the one we were getting rid of. Also, the VW dealer that was selling it wouldn't accept our reasonable offer on the car, so we actually ended up paying more locally for an older car.
We're pretty pleased with the one we got. It's like getting a brand new car... still has that new Subaru smell!
