Sorry the one down here didn't work out. I think they couldn't do much on price because they didn't take it on trade - they bought it to resell as they didn't have any AWD cars, even SUV's, on that lot.
Yeah. But the real sticking point was what they were offering for trade-in on her Saab. The guy there was kind of a dick to Lisa about the condition of the car, and the Saab was in fact in pretty damn good condition.

The best part was after I picked apart every little thing on the Subaru from my notes, he tried to do the same with the Saab to justify his low trade-in value. He told me "the windshield is chipped" (it wasn't) and "the rear brakes are nearly shot".

That part of the conversation was hilarious:

Salesdouche: "The rear brakes are nearly shot."
Me: "The brakes are fine, they were just replaced."
Salesdouche: "Well, you should probably talk to the place that did them, because there's hardly any pad left."
Me: "Oh really? 'Cause when I put those pads in myself earlier today, they were brand new."
Salesdouche:

I mean, I knew I was lowballing the guy on the car a bit, and I explicitly told him as much. But the only way Lisa was going to be happy with that car was if we got a raging deal on it. Like I said, it wasn't a bad car by any stretch... but it wasn't as nice as the car we were trading in on it.
