Yeah, um. He shot himself so the cops wouldn't take him alive. Not all that heroic.
One thing to note though, he went out of his way to avoid hurting anyone, only smashing empty buildings, and even though he had gun-loops built into the "tank" I guess he wasn't shooting at anyone. The guy had a plan to smash all the buildings of the people that pissed him off... and I think he accomplished his mission.
