You should have seen me taking the old tie rod ends off the front of my car... the only way to do it is with a BFH. Take a 5lb sledge with a good length handle and hit the front side of the spindle steering arm absolutely as hard as you can. Each impact actually instantaneously ovalizes the hole that the tie rod stud is sitting in, and so the tie rod falls out. WHAM-WHAM-WHAM-WHAM-WHAM-*chink*. Fun stuff...
You realize that in the Subaru circles, what you call a "BFH", we call "The Ford Tool".
