If he
is the dealer, that's a different story. But in CA car salesmen aren't allowed to sell vehicles they own on dealership property, it's called curbstoning. It protects the dealer more than it protects the public actually. Keeps shady salesmen from saying "hey, I can't go any lower than this on that car, but I have this other car I want to unload that I'll sell you cheap..."
