Actually, EcuTek can flash any JDM Subaru... or you can just keep your US ECU, but you'd have to swap your TGV-having manifold onto the new motor. There would be pros and cons to either route. The complete drivetrain route might be a good call though... if you don't mind dropping the 10 Gs all at once.
I think I'd rather have a newly built motor over some Japanese dude's project car. Also, didn't the JDM v7 have AVCS?
