An afternoon gathering at Derby Dam almost ended in tragedy Sunday. A group of 30-40 people were swimming in the area, when one man had an asthma attack while swimming. He wasn't able to get to shore, and immediately his friends jumped in to rescue him and ended up saving his life. A family member got him to the rocks on shore and started CPR. The young man got his breath back before paramedics arrived. Careflight took him to Washoe Medical Center, where he's said to be fine.
