Don't worry, your tires will get much hotter in Solo1 than Solo2 (mostly due to the tremendous braking loads you put on them), but they're not hot until about halfway through your run, so you'd have to make up a lot of time in the second half of the course to make up for the first half. Street tires (or good cold-performing R's) are sticky right off the bat, and a Solo1 run isn't long enough to overheat them unless you're driving really hard on them.

...'course I say that now, without having participated in a Lovelock Trials when it's 110 degrees out... but IIRC, Matt was saying that the street tires were actually handling the heat better than the guys on race tires. :shock:
