I think bru's point is that it's *not* "as good a time as any". A Divisional event is much more stressful and difficult, especially for a new driver. Plus there will only be 3 runs at this event instead of the normal 5 or 6.
The best time for a new driver to come out is at the school event, followed by a regional Stead event, followed by a regional away event,
then a Divisional, and finally a National Tour event. If you go to a Tour event for your 1st event, you're a maniac!
So, I certainly don't want to discourage anyone from coming out, but warn them that it will be a hectic weekend, and they won't get as much assistance as they would at just about any other weekend. I'd hate to have someone come out to the Divisional and decide that AutoX in general sucks and never come back, simply because the competition is more intense and people don't have time to help!
Edit: Mike man, you just beat me to it!
And Mike raises a good point... there won't be any ride-alongs during competition at a Divisional.
