I'm not sure how it would be hurting anything, cooling or lift, compared to a large scoop forcing air and pressure into the engine compartment, whether it be through a hole (with FMIC) or even through the top-mount intercooler (which doesn't reduce the scooped air's flow or pressure that much).
I could put a flapper door in that is normally open to let heat out, but then closes when the vent is pressurized from the outside. Prolly not worth the trouble. If I'm willing to remove my STI wing then I'm obviously willing to live with miniscule (if any) lift due to the hole in the hood.
What would've been nice is if Kaminari had an '04+ version of their vented hood (vent in front) when I needed to replace my hood dented by snow falling from my roof. Still not an +04 version available.
