That's how I do it... I remapped the ghost toggle button to the O on my wheel... a quick double tap is all I need to see where I am compared to the ghost, plus I watch the position indicator in the upper left corner.
And back to this challenge... I finally ran some more laps tonight... I'm only into the low 1'48's, so I don't think I've figured out this car/track. I find my fastest times are when I just let the car slide all over kingdom come, and get lucky and not spin or hit the wall.
