Without the pump running you probably only burned off the fuel on the rail side of the FPR. All the fuel in the return side was still just sitting there underpressure?
All I know is that I was just replacing my fuel filter. I had the hoses wrapped in towels to control any spray, and pulled off what I thought would be the presurized side. It didn't spray at all, so I assumed the whole system wasn't presurized. Turns out there's a check valve in the filter or something 'cause I yanked off the next line w/o a towel over it and got doused. I damn near dropped my cigarette!
