I don't know either, as i went onto the DMV web site each time to figure out what i thought the tax would be, then i made sure i had enough in my checking account before going down, and each time i was happily suprized with a fairly low registration figure. signed the check. put my plates on, and happily went on my way. each time i clearly told the dmv worker "i just bought a used car from a private party, i'de like to register it " ? hope dmv workers don't read our board ... eeks
