So I'm settling into bed about a half hour ago when I hear some tire screeching, engine redlining, much like a burnout, followed by an impact that shook my windows and startled me right out of bed. I live 100 yards away, if that. I jump out of bed, scramble for the first pair of pants I can put on backwards, grab some rubber gloves (I'm a nurse in the trauma ICU) and run out to see this at the 7-11 next door to where I live:
This is at the 7-11 on Mt Rose by Bibo coffee and the new Sezmu (?) restaurant.
The trajectory (Mt Rose and Humboldt):
The curb sent him airborne:
Apparently he was already up on two as he careened into the parking lot into the retaining wall, then half-flip/spun into the position you see at the top. He was going west on Mt Rose St. Must have come through the green across Plumas, because he was going way over 50mph. Its a wonder there was nobody in the path in the parking lot.
40-50YO male, alone. Took off on foot west up Mt Rose or south down Lander. The cops haven't found him as of yet.
This guy had something he was going to be in big trouble for. Either stolen car, ETOH, narcotics, warrants, who knows. Audi airbags did their job.
Dibs on the seats....
