We have a secondary pump that charges the pressure tank from the well's holding tank --- the geniuses that installed it put it right on the concrete floor of the wellhouse. Not so bad, except it is controlled by a 1.5ft long piece of 1/4" I.D. running off the main line to a pressure-sensing diaphram that throws the relay for the 110v.
With that tiny, uninsulated, no-flow line running next to the floor, it doesn't matter how high I crank the heater in the room when temps hit 0 --- frozen! So, last night I was out there squirming between filters and pipes to slap some heat tape on that baby. We still have water, must have worked.
