To put it frankly, the US STi has a 2.5L because they're trying to stay true to the "real" STi, instead of releasing a US variant that's slower than the EDM and JDM models, as was done for years before, and is still done by all the other Japanese manufacturers, Subaru actually released a US version of their rally car that does live up to expectations. In fact EVO owners should be bitching they're not rolling deep w/ a 6 speed, DCCD, and Active Yaw Control.
