It will always be that way...There are actually two arguements over "fairness" right now...And we've beat this to death on this board many times.
#1 Street tire is unfair. Many race-tire runners feel it's not fair that they get beat in their class by cars with a street tire modifier. They also feel the street tire index if unfair for race tire participants. Yes a Corvette on race tires is killing everyone. Also, as the first Sti to run stickies full time, I can honestly say that I believe there is NO advantage to the street tire cars...Race tire cars ARE getting a fair deal with the Street Tire pax. The problem is, some Reno region drivers don't have fuly prepped cars and/or the drivers are not fast enough.
#2 Altitude index. Basically, higher horsepower cars have a significant advantage over lower power cars at this altitude. There is a movement to adopt a seperate Pax-liek scoring program that awards lower power and brings down highewr power cars. Never mind that fact that a Miata in CSP from Sac whooped up on everyone a few events back.
As Dean, Myself, and others have said...SHUT UP and DRIVE FASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's the answer
