The problem is that in 1999 they switched to a digital speed sensor. The sensor in my 1998 is magnetic, and it cannot communicate with the '05 STi ECU. Without this sensor, I am limited to 4,500 rpms and no speedo...

Also, in order to replace that sensor for a digital one, I would have to open the transmission casing.
