That's not totally true. Maaco supposedly sucks simply because they skimp on prep work. If you do the prep yourself, then just have them spray, as long as the guy working the gun isn't a total wasteoid, you'll get a decent result.
Really you just have to treat it like you're paying them for use of their paint booth and equipment and do 90% of the work yourself. The problem is, if you look at it that way, suddenly it's not such an awesome deal.
Then again, I've never used Maaco, I'm just repeating what I've heard.
