Is that an actual gap on the left side of the key?

It almost looks like the key slot was ground wider/deeper and a longer key was welded in offset and ground to change timing by a degree or 3. Do some research. I bet that is a alleged performance mod or some such. Anything weird on the cams? Maybe to use non matched heads to the block?
