I'm not sure if I'm going to head back out there tomorrow. Today was a *long* day (I got up at 5 to prep the car, etc.) and I think I need a good "sleep-in day" tomorrow.

If anyone goes, take pictures!!

no worries evan,

i bought some lug nuts online.see below..b/c summit wanted like $100.00 for the only black lug nuts they had in stock, screw them. These ones got some good reviews by people and i don't see them in the local stores so maybe they are not as popular, which is cool b/c then thieves aren't likely to have the special socket for them, i'm not super worried that my wheels will get ripped off but it''s nice to have piece of mind.

hopefully the will be here weds of thurs, but i'll tell you when i get them and we can put my wheels on then, i ordered some black ones, i thought that would look kinda mean with my black car. these kyokugen ones i bought were $58.00.

be careful not to strip out the key (special socket), I've heard numerous accounts of the nightmare that follows if you ruin the key...be careful. Didn;t mean to be a downer, haha, those will look great, when do the new shoes go on?

soon as i get those lugnuts. hopefully the key is as strong as the coloring on the package their sold in .

BTW I used the have Gorilla locks the key itslef stripped the nuts b/c the shop used an air gun to put my lugnuts back on so tight the next place could not get them off(i mean don't these tires places realize there are torque guidlines to follow, am i right?), it looks like Gorilla makes thier keys out of metal stronger than their freakin nuts, whats up with that? So no more Gorilla lug nuts for me. At least with these lugnuts the key grabs the outside , with the Gorilla it was the inside, and it took them awhile to get my wheel off.

I had a set of those... the key stripped, and I had to get them pounded off at a shop.

Mine were a tad different tho, thet were open centered... perhaps they fixed the issues with the lugs and these are the newer ones...

I have these and they seem to work fine.

The key is still good and I haven't stripped any of the nuts. I thought Summit carried these, but maybe they stopped. JC Whitney has them also for about $30. Of course, an impact wrench has never touched my wheels, and one never will. I think that the main problem is stupid tire shop techs that don't use torque wrenches.

My Rota's came w/ Kyokugen 7 sides lugs, but they didn't look like the ones in your picture. Mine were hollow, i.e. you could see thru them like a regular nut, not like the capped nuts you guys have. The key however looked identicle to the key in both the pictures your guys posted.

I had my tires balanced at a shop and the guy used a impact wrench on 'em... but the shop later claimed they always do that, but it's set to a really low torque level, and they torque 'em with a wrench.

Either way, I was trying to put my race tires on in Sac, and the stupid key rounded out trying to get the lugs off! When I got back to Reno, I went to the shop and complained about the impact wrench I saw the guy use. The manager was cool about it, and even after he explained that they never torque with the air gun, he had someone pound some smaller sockets on the stuck lugs and wrench 'em off. Then he hooked me up with a nice beefy set of 6 sided (20mm!) lugs. These bad boys are massive!

So unfortunately, my lugs aren't "locking" or some crazy 7 sides lugs... but then again, my rims are only $120 bucks each, and not a set of SSRs or anything. Plus they're a crazy Subaru offset that will really only fit on another Subaru, so I'm not too worried about some punk kids trying to gank 'em.

To be honest, those keys are pretty soft steel... so I don't trust 'em. If they came with a full on drop-forged stainless steel key that fit my socket 1/2" socket wrench, then I'd consider getting 'em.
