Default Just Muffler or Cat back

My brother have HKS Muffler sit in the garage. Should he just put on the Muffler and go auto-x this weekend? Or wait til he got more $$ then order the TurboXS Stealth Back with the same Muffler.

The restriction is at the axle, where it drops from 2.5" to 2" for no reason. So unless it is at least axle back, don't bother putting it on, it is unlikey to do anything. You need a John Evans special straight cat-back...

There are also some real good options having a custom cat back made if you have a high flow muffler.

Dont get anything HKS and dont get anything done in town. No one here has mandrel bent exhaust, they're all press bent. If I were to recommend anything, it would be from RNRracing. I have it on my DSM and look how straight it is!

All SS, Mandrel Bent, 3'' High Flow Muffler, straight as can be.

If he already has the HKS, he can pick up the 2 necessary mandel bent peices at Summit, and somebody local can put it together. Probably about $100 since he has the muffler already.

Or, since the Cat exit is 2.5", press bent 3" will not restrict the flow in any way. That along with a Flow Master 3" diaganol flow muffler is what we did on Debbie's wagon, and it rocked, and I think was under $200 total including muffler. The key is to get rid of the Axle restriction. Unless you are going turbo back, nothing else matters much.

Yeah, but I think eventually you're going to want something better than the setup you just listed. Why spend money on temperary stuff just because you're impacient? Just do it right the first time.

Are you vou voulenteering the funds to "do it right"? A good Turbo back with UpPipe is $1000-$1500 with a high flow cat. That is about as "right" as you can get. Or for as little as $100 you can remove the axle restriction, and get a better exhaust tone. Hmmm....

Many people do a Cat back because it is cheaper, and satisfies there needs/wants/budget. I say, do what you want, and can afford.
