Default Oooooooooooh that smell!

So, I've installed the catback and drove around for about 30 minutes this past evening. Definite improvement, at least sound wise.

I am beginning to think I didn't tighten everything properly as I noticed a smell. It got worse as I drove.

Do these things smell this way for a bit after install? New metal expanding for the first time? Baking? Curing?

Peee U!

There are rust inhibitors, amonst other chemicals, all over new parts. It takes a bit for it all to bake off. The smell will go away.

I didn't notice any smell when my exhaust went on ... but then again my car did about 10 dyno pulls before I got it, then I drove 1000 highway miles in 2 days with the windows up.

Scott hit it right...it just stuff burning off...most places that doe exhaust jobs let your car run for about 20 min to burn it off...some smell more than others...when I put exh on my subie a long time ago it really stank for a day.
