Default Air Tank/Compressor

So after an awlful weekend of having to help my dad put up new wall spackle/knockdown or whatever it's called and paint and take loads of carpet to dump and lots of other crap I got one good thing out of it.

Since most of the items they buy for repair or fixing of the house are tax deductable my dad usally spends an assload of money at Lowes when he goes. So I wasn't to suprised when he bought this:

http://www.porter-cable.com/index.asp?e=547&p=2581

And now I get to keep it here for the time being, hopefully I get to have it!

So can this be used with air tools or is it too weak, it's certainly LOUD enough, I thought Scott's garage got loud this thing is a meanace to your ears.

It's a bit small, but you can run air tools off of it for light jobs like changing wheels and using an impact wrench. Also, try putting it just outside hte door and using a longer hose to reduce the noise.

What about a orbital buffer for waxing and polishing das car!

this one is a bit too power hungry for my little tank:

buff this

Deal, did somebody say Deal? Oh, Dean, yeah that's me.

That compressor is actually slightly larger and higher pressure than mine, and I use it for all sorts of stuff.

Good air tools are expensive, but to get you started I suggest either a Costco, or Harbor Freight combo set which should be under $100 and include most of the basics.

Watch Harbor Freight for sales... I got a 1/2" Impact wrench and 3/8" air ratchet combo for $35... shipped. Came with some impact sockets too, but they were standards, so meh...

I didn't look too closely at the specs, but usually a 6gal 150psi compressor won't be usefull for something that requires constant air use, like sanders, buffers, etc. However, it's great for lite duty use of an impact wrench, and best of all, you can fill your own air tank before going to the autocross! I'd suggest picking up a 4 or 5 gallon portable air tank... they're only $20 to $30 IIRC, and you'll be all set for a day at the airport!

Also, Porter-Cable is usually good shit.
