Wait, was the cop *chasing* him or just following him? Also, what color was the wrx, maybe we can narrow it down.

It was like 2 am, i think it was silver, but you could tell from the headlights and fogs....cop was like 2 minutes behind him also going pretty fast, but didn't see him get pulled over. Just curious if any one did.

I'm not totally sure how the law in Nevada works, but if you're pulled over for 100 in a 45, don't the cops just shoot you?

And silver sounds like Khail's infamous "WRS"... so if we don't hear from him in the next few days.... the cops prolly shot him.

Wait, I just checked, he's online at NASIOC.... guess it wasn't him then.

This reminds me of the ticket I got in Marysville on my way back from Sacramento about a year ago.

It was like 2am, and the freeway to totally devoid of traffic, right along that section of 80 where it's totally straight and you see for like 5 miles. So I was hauling-ass... I mean seriously hauling ass. Then in my rear-view I see flashing blue and red, way back there. So I slow down and move to the right lane, as the cop catches up to me. There was an exit about 100 yards ahead, so I pull off on the exit, and stop under a street light to (hopefully) make the cop more comfortable, since he's about to have to get out of the car.

I rolled down both windows, since I didn't want to force the cop to stand on the exit, but he came up to the driver's window.

The first thing out of his mouth: "I must have the slowest car on the force tonight! I was doin' 120 and it took me 10 minutes to catch up to you!"

Now I'm sure I'm totally fuqd. But the cop was smiling and chuckling and in a really good mood! He continued: "Yeah, I was on one of the overpasses and you drove under me... I clocked you goin 91. Then I had to get on the freeway and chase after you."

By now I'm oppolgizing for making him chase me... telling him that I'm on my way to Reno, and it's late and I'm anxious to get home, and I got carried away by the speed of my new car, etc. The cop asks for my license and registration, and while I'm getting it out, he strolls around my car, checking it out.

Walking back to my window to take my documents, the cop kinda cocked his head and asked, "what kinda car is this anyway?" I told him it was a Subaru Impreza WRX and the guy was like "whaaa!? My wife has an Outback... I've seen the comercials for the WRX, that's the rally car one right? Man I wanted her to get one, but she got the Outback."

Because of the cops friendly demenor, I'm thinking that at least I'm not going to jail... but I didn't think I'd get out of the ticket. The cop goes back to his car and punches up my info. Then stands outside of his car and starts writing... yep, I'm getting a ticket.

He comes back to my window and hands me the ticket saying, "Okay, I'm writing you up for 80 in a 65. You need to slow down, keep it under 75, or you're gonna have to talk to one of us again."

Throughout the whole situation, the cop was super cool, and in a great mood. I was lucky the ticket was only for 80 mph, or I woulda been in a world of hurt. He wished me a good night, and a safe drive to Reno, and was even nice enough to not ride my ass back onto the freeway. Of course, he prolly had to turn around and go the other way cuz he was 20 miles out of his jurisdiction!

Since this ticket (and one other in Truckee, 70 in a 55... I thought it was a 65 zone!) I've stopped speeding like that. I figure I'll drive it fast on the autocross courses, and stay around the limit on the public streets. I also got a V1 radar detector... I love that thing, even tho I don't speed that much anymore.

The last ticket I got was on my way TO vegas in a GTP Grand Prix (which sucks), I was doing about 125 or so, and i see the same thing, way in the distance behind me, i swore i say flashing lights. Thinking nothing of it, i continued to have fun with my friends car and see how fast we can get to Vegas (all my dorm room friends were from Vegas so we took a lot of trips down there). Then the lights got closer so i began to slow down, then they were right on my tail. I pulled over and had to deal with probably the most pissed off cop ever.

Now I am trying to be as nice as possible to the cop, even though he was very pissed it seemed. We started actually talking about his cop car, and after about 10 min. we were talking about all sorts of things. He ended up leaving with a smile and me with a 85 in a 70mph speeding ticket.

I have come to find that being nice to the police, they normally treat with the same respect. That was my last ticket, but i still speed on those long roads (almost like i didn't learn from my 290.00$ ticket).

Today a Black WRX sedan decided to pass me going 75-80 throught the construction zone on I80. Where the speed limit is 50. Not so cool. Not even a wave or anything. And the day I decide to go 60 through there, is the day the NHP will be enforcing their lame speed limit. Oh well.

Still, thats a huge ticket, just let them fly by and get that ticket. I still go 55 through there. I can't afford a double-fine ticket like that.

Tell me about it... I was following a bunch of people thru there at about 70... I didn't realize the construction limit was in effect so close to Truckee. I'm in the left lane, and there's a couple big SUVs and vans in the right lane... Suddenly, the guys in the right lane see the cop on the shoulder and slam on the brakes... I can't see of course (goddam big ass trucks!) and I pop out into the front of the pack right as the cop decides to hit us with the radar. So I get the 70 in a 55 ticket, while everyone else keeps on going.

The ticket wasn't that much tho, only about $75. Maybe I didn't get hit for "double construction zone" or something, since it looks like the construction was finished up there months before I got my ticket. Where I got pulled over, it was all new concrete and not an orange cone in sight!

Dude must've had a light bar on his sedan. A good CHP friend of mine & I tested the slick top vs. the light bar edition on a couple ride-alongs, making sure we used the same section of highway (while either in pursuit or responding of course). Those radars/speedos are supposed to be accurate enough to stand up in court, and we topped the slick-top at 132 vs. 120 for the light-bar sedan.
