hey guys im just wondering if anyone knows how the old 91-94 legacy turbo engines are marked. will they be marked as an ej22, or will they be marked ej22t on the block itself. thanks.

Yeah, yeah.
![]() It'll be marked EJ22 on the top of the motor (horizontal surface) for EJ22's and EJ22T's. Obviously, if it's got a turbo attached, you're in good shape. Beyond that, the different years had slightly different setups, so I can't give you other indicators off the top of my head. If you can get a pic I can probably tell you, though. |

thanks for the info. the reason im asking is because i was at the junk yard today, and they actually had quite a few subaru motors...mostly older legacy wagons. but they had two 91 legacy motors. neither of them had turbos attached but i figured they would take them off. ill try and get some pics. if one of them is the 2.2l turbo motor...depending on the milage i might try and pick it up. thanks

They had one at pick n pull in Carson about a month ago, they probably still have it. Still attached to a car though.

Go straight EJ257 Ryan, not worth messing with a used EJ22 and the costs associated with putting it together right.
