Default Trouble at the river - Near drowning

Well everyone. Today was probably the scarist day of mine and a few other peoples lives. Here is the story.

Me and 3 of my friends went out to the Fernley jumping rock right off I-80 about 10 miles before fernley. There were about 30 people chillin out there drinking a swimming. We hang out for awhile, then Evan and Colin show up. We are all having a grand ol' time until the unexpected happened.

We were all chillin, when we here some chick yell out 'someone help me'. We had no idea what she needed so we all started to walk over there. She then yells out 'someone is drowning'. Then we all booked it over to see a guy that was black and blue and not breathing on the edge of some rocks. We all ran over and started to help the guy out of the water and onto a flat part of the ground, were another guy started to perform CPR. We had called a ambulence earlier so cops and firetrucks begin to arrive. We had found out he had a asthemia (sp?) attack while trying to climb back up the jumping rock. HE wasn't breathing for a long period of time until the CPR paid off and got him breathing again (but barley). the paramedics called in a care flight helicopter to air lift him to the hospital.

Needless to say, everyone there did a awsome job to help save this kids life. I just gatta say thanks to Evan and Colin for being there and helping.

The story was on the news today and will eb on again tonight at 11 pm on channel 2 and 8. It will eb in the papers tomorrow also.

I am still shaken up knowing that we helped save a kids life. I never have thought this would have happened. Thank god for everyone there. I know I missed tons of details but I am still surprised about it all.

A pat on everyones back that was there.

And here is the link for the internet story (if anyone cares):

An afternoon gathering at Derby Dam almost ended in tragedy Sunday. A group of 30-40 people were swimming in the area, when one man had an asthma attack while swimming. He wasn't able to get to shore, and immediately his friends jumped in to rescue him and ended up saving his life. A family member got him to the rocks on shore and started CPR. The young man got his breath back before paramedics arrived. Careflight took him to Washoe Medical Center, where he's said to be fine.
