Greetings,
I know some of you have been researching/had toyed with the idea of the purchase of an 04 STI and am curious what you found as far as pricing. I am currently eyeing an 04 with 15K, no mods, oh hell, here's the link. clicky I am at the point where I want to either continue to mod my car or simply get what I really want before I spend another dime on my current car. What's a fair price for this car? |

I would say that with the 06 models coming out you should be looking to pay in the very low 20s. That car looks alright, but the current bid is right at the top end of what I think an 04 is worth now. If you wait a couple more months until the 06 models hit the showroom floor you should be able to get a decent used STi for 20k or less.
You should definately get an STi instead of modding. You can make a WRX faster in a straight line than an STi for not too much money, but when you factor in the transmission, brakes, suspension and other things that make the STi such a great car, it just isn't worth the money to mod a WRX. If you ever start autocrossing or doing track days you will really appreciate the STi over the WRX. BTW I love how every used car in the history of used cars has only had "easy highway miles" ![]() |

I agree with Mike. There is a huge difference between the STI and the WRX. Granted my one experience with mine at the track was no doubt a fluke; the last several track days have made me really appreciate the STI. As far as pricing I would agree that you should be able to find an '04 in the low 20's, if not now very soon when the '06' are on the showroom floor.

According to Nasioc mid to late August or possibly later if you don't pre-order. If you aren't a Nasioc member, you may want to check out this.
